about

An aleatoric work of indeterminate length, composed as part of a larger Fluxus-type project at Half Moon Books Tivoli, NY 2020-21.

Four iOS devices and four bluetooth speakers all playing shaped sine waves, using an octatonic scale. The scale-degrees are divided into four 4-note groupings, with pitch classes spread over a 4-octave range. In turn, each group is assigned to one of the four speakers. Tempo is assigned to different note values for each device based on multiples of 15.

This piece was inspired by Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies and methodologies derived from Oulipo-based texts, as well as certain mid-period works of Morton Feldman.
