about

Composed in memory of Hajji Majer (1964-2014) using guitar loops originally created by Hajji and processed using granular synthesis to create new instruments.

Tracks 1&2 composed 2014; Track 1 revised 2021.

____________________________________________

Known primarily as a drummer in the Capital District in the late 80's/early 90's (100 Acre Wood, Home, People) and in late 90's/00's NYC (Fall of Another Year, Alger Hiss, Mors Syphlitica), Hajji also made recordings of experimental guitar music as The Boy Who Could Breathe Underwater. He and I collaborated on a couple of short-lived projects (Everything We Want Is In The Clouds, Cocoleelor) from 2002-2005, where Hajji often created amazing guitar-based loops as a springboard for our writing process.

On July 25 2014, Hajji passed away unexpectedly at age 48.

To make sense of this tragic loss, later that summer I started working with some loops Hajji created ca. 2003 (from my personal sound archive), creating new instruments using granular synthesis/processing, then composing (with some revisions in 2018 and in 2021) the two pieces that make up this release.
